I am pleased to introduce to you “In the Beginning…”

“In the Beginning…” , play conceived and written by Marizelda S Eggertsson, explores the theme of creation inspired by the great renaissance artist Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel Ceiling.  This play features Saxophone solos with original and through-composed musical underscoring written for “In the Beginning” Commissioned in 2008 to Italian composer Armando Ghidoni, Directed by Jay D. Brock professional of Musical Theatre, and Dance movements choreographed by Alison Talvacchio.  “In the Beginning…” includes Movement based work showcasing classical French Pantomime and Lecoq techniques.  This play with its original musical underscoring has been compared to a biblical opera, whereby the Saxophone is the operatic voice of the “woman” who sings the biblical art scenes, and the movement based work explores the art of the mind.

The theme throughout is about “woman.”  Opens with a prelude, woman in the abyss (expressivo), with anticipation of creation of heaven and earth, with the spirit of God in the midst, emphasizing the creation of the world, “Life.”  Begins with the woman of all the living, EVA, the woman in the garden, scorned because of her disobedience, unfortunately followed her own will by disobeying God, to AVE (if you spell EVA in reverse you get AVE), “the woman” who did obey God’s will, the Mother of all the afflicted and the comforter who restores peace to the woman.  To “woman” seeking her redemption by the mystery of the Cross.  In conclusion, to the Bride, the “woman” who prepares to meet her husband in heaven, the Eternal life.

“In the Beginning” is a play in 6 acts with each act emphasizing the Cross.
